Why I love the Christmas Season?

There’s officially 24 sleeps until Santa and I’m beyond excited to start being extremely festive and posting every single day for month of December!

It’s almost the end of term, final crits and submissions are approaching and the only thing that makes me push through the endless all nighters is thinking about how in 9 days I’m boarding a plane back home and indulging in holiday spirit, cookings and festivities for a whole month.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve been anxiously awaiting December 25 and the whole month before, each year.  From Christmas movie marathons, picking and wrapping gifts to ice skating with my friends, there is so much to love about the holiday season. It’s a time of love, happiness and togetherness – аn occasion that appeals to and invigorates all of our senses.

I love the dangling lights, hanging from every corner in the street. Driving  becomes even more enjoyable than any other time during the year because there are beautiful lights popping up everywhere!

I love the smell of mulled wine and sizzling sausages on the Christmas markets, accompanied by festive music. I love looking at all the handmade ornaments, the freshly baked and decorated gingerbread cookies and the massive Christmas mascots.

I love the big Christmas trees – 10-20m tall giants, decorated with red and gold ornaments and draping twinkling lights. I love decorating the trees at home – a family tradition me and mum share ever since I was little.

I love finding that one special gift and wrapping it in  festive Christmas paper. I love seeing the faces of people when opening their gifts. I love seeing my dog jump around with his Christmas jumper after he’s sensed there’s a present for him under the tree as well.

I love Christmas cooking – all the spices, clouds of flower and endless gingerbread men to decorate. I love making them a gingerbread house too!

I also love big, ugly Christmas sweaters and Starbucks red cups, and Pret a Manger cranberry-brie toasties, and Primark Christmas PJs, and  Cinnamon, vanilla, sugar cookies candles!

Towards the end of the year, there is nothing more befitting than an occasion like Christmas, to reminisce the good times of the year and toast to better times that are coming!

Christmas is more than just December 25th. It’s a season of happiness, love, and anticipation…“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

XO,

Merrie

Pretty much love all of these! But I think big Christmas trees, ugly Christmas jumpers and Christmas baking have to be some of my favourites!
