When I moved to London 2 years ago, I left almost all my friends from home behind. Fast forward, it’s my first summer here & I’m lucky enough to have some of my closest friends also move to the city for internships. Naturally, that means weekends are well spent catching up in the corner of a cosy restaurant with a french fry in one hand and a cocktail glass in the other.

Last week I was kindly treated to a wonderful dinner at Bill’s Restaurant’s Holborn location doing exactly that. The setting was perfect for me & my friend, Simona, to discuss our intern lives, plans for the future & of course where & when are we going on another trip (the most important question of them all). We had a reservation for 7pm (so we wouldn’t be sweating our tits off, thank you London) and when we arrived we were seated at a lovely table outside, overlooking the hustle and bustle of Holborn on a Saturday night. There’s also seating inside, which would be perfect for a cosy & calm atmosphere, but we had to make the most out of the good weather while it last, amirite?

We started off by ordering some cocktails (as one does), while choosing our weapons of flat tummy destruction. Bill’s recently came out with their summer menu & it’s safe to say they offer all the trendy-avocado-halloumi-sweetpotato meals us millennial love (& snap). Of course, if you’re not into that Instagram food life, they also offer a lot of classic meals ranging from a good old steak to fish pie, burgers & curry. There’s literally something for everyone!

I settled on the Ancient Grain Bowl with added halloumi & a side of sweet potato fries (how can you not?)  My bowl was incredibly rich and flavorsome, but still light and not too heavy in the summer heat. And the fries, oh the fries, they were a real crispy treat. I could easily live off of them. The English Garden cocktail I went for was the ideal company for my meal – how can one go wrong with good old gin & elderflower? We finished off our meals with some ice-cream and let me tell you, I liked the Salted Caramel flavor so much I ate 3 scoops of it. No regrets, I wore a flowy playsuit for a reason #foodbaby.

With locations all over London (& the country), making Bill’s a perfect place to meet for a evening catchup or a nice Sunday brunch. They serve 3 meals a day and I can’t wait to go again and try out their breakfast menu! (did someone say avocado toast & pancakes? I hope so.)
